Very happy!

I'm new to quality coffee and I don't want to pretend otherwise. Until recently, I saw nothing wrong with Folgers (I still don't but now with some large caveats...) but as I got deeper into intermittent fasting to control my T2 diabetes, my coffee consumption rose to unprecedented levels and I wanted something that was 'better' than Folgers. Pretty subjective use of 'better' but here is the kicker; if you had even suggested to me 3 months ago that I'd be spending $200 on a grinder and another $200 on a kettle, I would have laughed hard. And yet, here we are.

I did a lot of research on coffee and how to make a great cup of Joe. I discovered recipes (It isn't just coffee and hot water???), grind charts, and more. All the while, the same message was coming through...you need a decent grinder and a way to control water temperature. OK, 25 different websites can't be THAT wrong so I better suck it up. The problem is, I didn't want to spend $500 on the BEST grinder, I just wanted a good value grinder that would last.

I'll cut out the quest to find that on Google but it was a frustrating endeavor until I realized that the same brand (Baratza) kept appearing and as I zeroed in on that, the Encore was consistently mentioned as being the best value for money. I took a deep breath and bought it. Coffee Addicts had a common price with free shipping and I like to support the smaller businesses where possible. It is highly unlikely that you will find a cheaper price anywhere else so I do recommend this seller. The additional candy in the box was a really nice touch, thank you! Shipping was pretty fast and faster than the big box stores usually offer.

I'm happy with the unit, it seems to do a consistent grind, doesn't spew coffee grinds everywhere, it isn't very noisy and it cleans up well. It is quite heavy which seems to exude a feeling of quality and in hindsight, I do not think that $200 seems expensive for this quality of product. Oh, how my attitude has changed!!

I recommend pairing this with the Fellows Stagg EKG kettle and an Aeropress with the Fellows AP attachment. Look for Wade Prestons award-winning recipe for AP coffee on Google for a GREAT cup of coffee.

I can still drink Folgers...but I don't. ;-)

Great home filter coffee grinder

Love this grinder, just as compact as our ild black and decker one, but far far superior in quality of grind and feels at least as if not more durable. Would recommend for anyone looking to up their home coffee setup!
