The Thread Gap Every Canadian BWT Besthead Installer Encounters
The BWT Besthead uses 3/8" BSP (British Standard Pipe) threads — the European plumbing standard found on most BWT filtration components and many European espresso machines. Canadian residential and commercial water supply pipes and fittings use compression fittings — a different standard that is physically incompatible with BSP threads. When you install a BWT Besthead filter system into a Canadian water line, you need a hose that speaks both thread standards: BSP on one end (connecting to the Besthead) and compression on the other (connecting to your existing supply pipe). That's exactly what this hose does. At 48" (1.2m), it provides enough length to bridge the Besthead from a wall-mounted position to the supply pipe without requiring additional extension hoses in most standard kitchen or utility room installations.
Specifications
One end: 3/8" Female BSP (connects to BWT Besthead inlet or outlet). Other end: 3/8" Female Compression (connects to standard North American supply pipe fittings). Construction: stainless steel braided flex hose. Internal diameter: 8mm. External diameter: 12mm. Length: 48" / 1.2m. Operating pressure: 10 bar. Maximum temperature: 90°C. The stainless steel braid construction is appropriate for potable water supply applications — no off-flavours or corrosion risk over time, and it handles the full pressure and temperature range of a domestic or commercial supply line.
BWT Filtration Installation at Coffee Addicts
This hose is the connection component between the BWT Besthead (or Besthead FLEX) filter head and your existing Canadian water supply. The BWT Besthead ($95) and BWT Besthead FLEX ($140) are both stocked at Coffee Addicts, as are the BWT Bestmax, Bestmax Premium, and Bestprotect filter cartridges, the BWT Adjustable Pressure Reducer, the BWT Flowmeter, and the BWT Bestflush Valve. For a complete BWT inline installation, this hose is typically what bridges the gap from the supply pipe to the Besthead inlet — and in most cases a second hose of this type or a standard BSP-to-BSP hose is used on the outlet side to connect the Besthead to the machine or to the downstream components.
