Pre-Measured Backflushing, One Sachet at a Time
The Cafetto Espresso Clean® Sachet is the single-dose, pre-measured format of Cafetto's professional backflush cleaner — each sachet contains exactly 5g of Espresso Clean®, the correct dose for a standard daily or weekly backflush cycle on a traditional espresso machine. There's no weighing, no measuring with a capful, and no leftover powder to store between uses. Tear open the sachet, add it to the blind filter basket, and follow the backflush procedure. For machines cleaned daily, one sachet per session is the standard dose; for less frequent cleaning, two sachets are recommended to compensate for heavier oil and residue accumulation between cycles.
NSF P152 Certified — What That Means for Your Coffee
Cafetto Espresso Clean® has been independently tested and certified by NSF International to Protocol P152, the food equipment safety standard for products used in espresso and coffee brewing equipment. P152 certification confirms two things directly relevant to your coffee: the cleaner will not leave residues that affect the taste or aroma of subsequent shots, and it will not corrode or damage the internal components of your machine. The rapidly soluble, free-rinsing formula dissolves quickly in the backflush cycle, clears coffee oils, grounds, and stains from the group head and delivery pathway, and rinses completely without leaving trace odour or residue.
Backflush Procedure and Filter Soak
For each group head: replace the coffee filter with a blind filter, add one Espresso Clean® sachet to the group handle, and insert as if brewing. Run the cycle for 10 seconds, stop for 10 seconds, and repeat for a total of five on/off cycles. Remove the group handle and rinse under the delivery group stream, then re-insert the blind filter and run 10 short rinse cycles (5 seconds on, 2 seconds off). Remove the blind filter, insert the regular filter, and brew and discard one espresso to re-season the group head. To clean portafilter baskets and handles separately: soak in 500ml of hot water with two sachets for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly under running water. For bulk backflush cleaning rather than per-session sachets, the Cafetto Espresso Clean® Powder is also available at Coffee Addicts.
