The E&B Lab puck diffuser screen, also called lower shower screen or contact screen, combines a hole area with a 150-micron filtering power photo-etched membrane. The screen is placed directly on top of the coffee puck to reduce channeling and improve water distribution. It also comes with a small magnet to remove the puck screen after extraction to improve the workflow.

Compatible with filter baskets for 58/58.4 mm tampers.

Magnet tops it off

Didn't understand the hype around an extra screen when there is already one on the group head. Consistently less stray spray from naked portafilter. Pucks are perfectly dry and formed (I know there are other factors - I weigh my doses). I am suitably impressed by the lack of coffee debris on my group head after pulling a shot. And to top it off, the magnet is a very nice touch. The screen easily lifts from the portafilter with the magnet after extracting a shot. It consistently works well. Don't have to dig the screen out of the knock box. Nice touch indeed.

I like this quite a bit. Super easy to clean. There’s not as much thickness as a mesh screen, so there’s more headroom and some retained water on top, but doesn’t affect shot taste. The magnet is very fun to use.
