The PESADO tamper has been created to perfect the coffee tamping procedure. This tamper diameter is 53.5mm with a precision machined 90 degree edge to maximize basket coverage.
The sharp edges extend the effective tamping area and get full coverage of the basket, leaving no residue and maximizing consistency. Reducing un-tamped grounds means reducing the chance of channeling, and increased consistency over the coffee puck will result in a more even extraction and a higher extraction yield.
These premium modular handles have been developed for those with luxury in mind. Complement the metallic features in your coffee machine and home set up while utilizing the perfect balance of the stainless steel handle and precision base together.
Note: Oak look is made of sustainable birch wood vacuumed dyed, coated in a heat and water resistant wax.
The Right Tamper for Your Breville 54mm Machine The stock Breville tamper gets the job done — but it's not sized to the basket. The Pesado Tamper for Breville 54mm is 53.5mm in diameter, which reaches significantly closer to the basket wall than the stock option, reducing the un-tamped margin around the edge of the puck that leaves grounds loose, contributes to the "donut effect," and creates the conditions for channelling. At 53.5mm, the tamper covers the basket floor edge to edge in a way that a narrower tamper simply can't. Compatible with all Breville and Sage 54mm portafilter baskets, including the Pesado He[%] Breville 54mm High Extraction Basket.
90° Edge and 316 Stainless Steel — What Both Actually Mean The tamper base is CNC-machined from 316-grade stainless steel — the higher-grade alloy used across the Pesado tamper range, with better corrosion resistance and dimensional stability than the 304 found in most aftermarket alternatives. The precision 90° edge is not a stylistic detail but a functional one: where a rounded or angled tamper edge allows grounds to compress at the perimeter at a slight angle, the 90° edge meets the basket wall squarely, compressing grounds fully and consistently to the edge of the puck bed. The result is a more uniform puck surface, less residue left on the basket wall, and a more consistent extraction yield. Weight: approximately 490g for the 53.5mm version.
Fully Modular — Choose Your Handle and Cap The handle system is the same modular format used across the full Pesado tamper range. Choose a black or white POM handle body (or the Raya sustainable birch or Oak Look vacuum-dyed birch full wooden handle), then select a cap finish from metallic electro-polished (black, bronze, gold, silver), resin honeycomb (Dusk, Haze), or timber (Iris, Riga). Caps and handles can be swapped at any time using the Pesado M10 x 40mm bolt — sold separately if needed. The Oak Look handle is sustainable birch, vacuum-dyed and wax-coated; small natural splits may develop over time without affecting structural integrity. Pairs naturally with the Pesado Gravity Distributor 54mm, the Pesado WDT Clump Crusher, and the Pesado He[%] Breville 54mm High Extraction Basket for a complete Breville 54mm puck prep setup.
